If you’re looking for something Cross Country wise you could give MBO (Mountain Bike Orienteering) Score a try. The last event of the West Coast MBO Winter Score Series is taking place at Bassenthwaite on the 15th March. Information and Entries here.

There are also 3 MTBO (Fixed Point to Point) events at Gisburn Forest including a night event on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd March. These are shorter events (providing you don’t get lost!) than the MBO Scores in general and will give a taster of MTBO without committing to a longer event.
