I have had the most shoddy broadband over the past few days. 2400baud style loading times, very patchy on some site (especially google/mail/maps) and fine on others. Sometimes it is as it should be at others i struggle to load any page.

It's the same with Chrome/Firefox/IE. Tower and laptop.

I've virus/spyware/malware/winterwear/summerwear tested it (Trend (my 'native' AV/AS prog), Malwarebytes) and found nothing. I've run ATL and nothing suspicious looking is evident. I've cleaned caches, register etc and no joy.

Virgin tell me nothing is up in my area so i'm left with the classic question: WTF??

I've been experiencing the same problems for a few days. Vimeo videos and the like that played without interuption, now constantly buffering (or whatever it's called).

Are you using a wireless router? If so, connect to that (on mine it's http://192.168.0.1 in a browser window) and check that nobody else is connecting to your network and rinsing it.

if it's been a few days, maybe it is someone hogging bandwidth! 'teenager discovers torrents, downloads entire porn collection of world to mum's PC'

Yeah, I thought it might be someone hijacking the network but there's no sign of anyone else on the network (I'm checking the DHCP Client List right?) It's the same with and without the router so I'm still stumped.

Maybe there's a gang of teenagers just discovered torrents all overloading the local cable… and getting in the way of *my* downloads!!! 😉

has BTFON and openspace been switched on in your area recently? Had a problem with that until I switched them off(not IT literate so took a while to sus!!)
Finding my BT runs very slow come lunch time here at home and my workplace system also slows right down during mid day.

Had thought about changing to Sky but BT apparently supply their internet!!!

    Have you rebooted the router?

Rebooted the router and it's virgin cable so BT shouldn't effect it (i say shouldn't but you never know…)

Hey. I have virgin as well and their useless, don't listen to a word they say and if you know anyone that lives reasonably close that has it as well ask them how their is running.
