  • Wrong depth foam rings in a rockshox coil recon. Will it make any difference?

A while ago I got sent some foam rings for a rockshox recon coil u turn. They were the smaller yellow ones rather than the 10mm deep one in the fork. At the time I just cleaned and refitted the old foam rings as the seals were my more pressing concern.

Now I think I need to swap the foam rings, can I just fit the wrong ones, or will they move within the recess, fold and disintegrate?

    Again, any advice gratefully accepted.

    I figured it out!

The kit I got from TF has the newer style oil seal then a thinner foam ring. Just finished and reassembled bike before dark and it pissed down.

Those oil seals seem like a good idea, but damn they are a tight fit. I ended up having to tap them in like a cartridge bearing, I don’t think I’ve damaged the lip of the seal, though.

Time will tell, but the fork seems nice and plush.
