If there’s a race event on lets say the rivington estate (owned by united utilities) could we give free beer out? or would licensing etc be a problem?

I’ll be amazed if you get permission at Rivington

how are you going to avoid the bridleways? go ape, horse riders, dog walkers and the local action group? 😉

ask the council about the licensing, they will have a team dedicated to event (and other) licensing issues

you should notify them anyway, fill a form in and all’s well

    Stolen from web:

You’d be required to submit a ‘TEN’. (Temporary Event Notice).

That’s not quite the same as applying for a licence, since you are TELLING the licensing authority of your intent to supply alcohol, rather than ASKING PERMISSION to do so. No actual permission is required, per se, and (once the TEN has been submitted) you’re free to go ahead with your plan unless the police object:

To get around licensing years ago my local carnival used to sell raffle tickets, one free beer with each ticket. That got around licensing at the time apparently.

I went to a cider festival like that. Prize every time 🙂

I think getting a tens notice would be fine (thats what everyone did for the royal wedding)…its just the land ownership that might be a problem?
