the book is a masterpiece and the film is generic hollywood pap… “ooo, he’s just made his escape in the nick of time” ad infinitum….
starts of a big budget affair, ends like a BBC2 drama… and the line from from Malcolm Tucker “they’re just walking past him”, just pathetic…
the book: every facet of emotion and the frailty of the human condition is exposed, read it twice now. 10/10
the film: tense yes. shit? also yes. won’t bother with the sequel 2/10
