  • Woodworkers – Cheap router for home use under £100?

Looking for a cheap router for home use.

There seems to be a large spread of prices.
Is there any reason why I shouldn’t buy a really cheap for £40 at Screwfix.

Or should I spend a bit more? Say about £80?

Any recommendations at less than £100?

I have said cheap router from screwfix, has been more than ample for what I’ve wanted to do so far.

Routered some side panels and a floor for my van, made some shelves to go in my daughters wardrobe. Only limit is what bits you buy to go in it.

a cheapie will do, as ever buy the best you can afford, but there is a night and day difference between a cheap one and a good one. i was quite amazed when i got my makita one how utterly easy it was to use and do jobs compared to anything else i’d had before.

I’ve had a cheapie, and now have a Trend T5 bought s/h for just over £100. Night and Day.

If you can get something like a T5, worth it.
