Say you wanted to build some rollable doubles to learn how to jump doubles in your garden. What size should they be?

If it is just for physiological purposes then as big as a tabletop you are happy jumping I reckon.

Doubles just a tabletop with the middle removed.

Thinking a bit more. I would build a take off and a landing section. They could be butted together to start and gradually moved apart as you gain confidence. Others will be along shortly to tell me why this is a bad idea.

2.5-3′ high with a really mellow trasision, may be 9-10′ radius

But personally I would go with a dirt landing. Less sharp edges!

    Shorter than this.

A Rampage Ramp would be fine, make sure you fix it down or prop it against something. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rampage-Single-Mini-Launch-Ramp-Skate-BMX-Scooter-Ramp-/332006710094

The transition is about perfect for a small take off. Either use a natural landing or make a nice wide mellow one from dirt.

Unless you’ve got a massive garden, you won’t want anything bigger as you’ll not have the speed to clear it. You don’t want to be furiously pedalling at it when you’re learning.

It will be pretty difficult to build ‘rollable’ doubles out of wood. As uphillcursing mentions, build a take-off and a landing, maybe with a lip on the back into which you can slot a flat 6′ tabletop section which you can remove once your confident on it. Takes quite a lot of wood to build a decent landing though.

Where is the update. Surely we should have seem either much “hucking” or an A&E shot by now.

Housebricks and MDF for the win.
