My wife has been given some training videos to watch that are .wmv files, and it looks like they were created in 2003.

The sound is working, but there is no video content.

    Why wouldnt it be working?

    Thanks

WMV is a wrapper for other video formats. It sounds like you’ve not got the correct codec to decode the video inside it.

What I’d suggest is to grab G-Spot (no, really) and it’ll analyse the file to tell you what codecs you need. Then you can Google and download what’s required to play it back.

Alternatively, download VLC which is a video player which will play back pretty much anything you throw at it.

Have you tried VLC- that’ll generally play anything.

Checked with both and no video content.

However, bit of googling and it looks like Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint … Which apparently doesn’t work in windows 8 🙁

Upload it as private vid to youtube or Vimeo and see if it converts it?

There is very little VLC won’t play. Have you tried them on your phone?
