I’m not sure how universal thermostats are, but there are lots of “smart” ones out nowadays. What’s good and what’s not? Any ideas for this exciting thread?

Our Nest is working well and looks pretty – not quite as ‘learning’ as they would have you believe but I’m lying in bed and just changed the hot water schedule slightly as the noise was bothering me 😀

For a basic wireless programmable stat, then you cant do better than this rebranded Honeywell one at £51:

Salus rt500 is cheap, robust and reliable. Not the easiest to program.

I got a deal on a netatmo smart thermostat when amazon were knocking them out cheap.

Make sure the old one really is dead. My drayton digistat stopped working the other day (thermostat was calling for heat but nothing was happening) and it turned out there was a failed capacitor in the receiver.
£5 part off eBay and 5 mins soldering and we’re back in business.
