What’s the hive mind’s “go to” choice for the above? (i.e. both not one over the other).

    Other than “my sister’s” 😎

    TIA

I only wear artisan jeans, woven from the freshly plucked beards of dead hipsters.

I never wash them, of course.

Do they still make Warm 49’ers?

Mine have been a bit too warm for the tropical south so far this winter.

Depends if it’s gold or wet.

The best answer is a pair of cheap denim look snowboard pants.

Howies warm 49ers are lovely. Happily live in mine when it’s chilly.

Had a pair of Alpkit ‘waterproof’ jeans, which take a little longer to wet out than ordinary denim and dry fairly quickly but I’d not buy another pair.

Uniqlo used to make a windproof insulated jean which is pretty handy. Mine may come out tomorrow…

Wearing my warm 49ers today, so snug and cosy.

My wife laughed at me, then she got a pair herself.

if you just need warmer jeans then just wear your normal jeans with base layer tights.

I’m still wearing shorts now and again, I can’t imagine needing jeans that offer any more warmth than regular jeans.

Get a pair of Merino leggings from Aldi (there were loads in my local yesterday). You’ll be wearing them until you here the first cuckoo!

I have some Epic waterproof howies jeans. They’re not particularly epic and not very waterproof. Great for washing the bike though. Sort of splashproof. Like a cheap Casio watch.

I love my Alpkit Epics and wish they still made them. I only wear them for general life and dog walking etc, not riding though.

Bike, I don’t bother and just wear 3/4 bibs (PX 365 mostly) for mtb and cheap decathlon running stuff for commute.

    Cheers all!

Terry, I used to be like you, but I got some Howie’s ones and am not going back! It may be old age.

Do you wear shorts in winter? 😆

I have some of the Howies Epic jeans, definitely not waterproof, probably takes a little longer to wet through than ordinary jeans and then cold+wet. Plus mine have basically completely worn out within a year, although they are my dog walking strides.

My vote goes for a regular pair of jeans then merino long johns, even if jeans wet out the magic of wool ensures your legs stay warmish
