So, accepting that we can't be out riding our bikes all the time...
What do you do to keep yourself entertained at home on an evening in these dark, austere times?
Musical instruments? Lego? Plotting world domination... what?

A 21 month old daughter and a MSc to study for.
These are not cheap and cannot be discarded in the spring.
I'm going to design and build a 6000 lumen LED lamp that runs on 1 18650 and has a run time of 12 hours.
Or I might just watch some telly.

Climbing wall and spin classes - I know, not at home, but it's indoors and a great way to spend winter evenings.
At home - Reading, cooking, catching up with friends (thinking of starting a regular winter 'supper club'), away working and pestering forumites to meet up to save me from terminal hotel / crap tv boredom!
indulging my inner geek and painting warhammer figures.
present WIP:
Do you have to stay at home? Plenty of stuff you can do inside that's almost as fun as riding a bike.

Sorry Yeti- all Top Secet at the moment I'm afraid.
All shall be revealed in the Fullness of Time, however....
I was mostly writing the begins of a book, got to 300,000 words by spring then didn't write a stitch. Hopefully i can get back to it during the dark nights.
Also i seem to amass loads of photo's through the year so get to sort and play about with them.
If the cash is there, i'll have a few pints during some evenings so i get to converse with humans.
I hear you TSY.
Bored Bored Bored of tele.... I think I'm getting old.
I can only do so much Tri training, do not want it to become completely obsessional.
I'm toying with the idea of doing a degree via Open Uni. But that's a BIG committment, worried I might be biting off more than I can chew.
Maybe I should just pick my guitar back up.
I might start drawing, painting and / or writing again. I'll keep taking photos, and possibly build a website to put them on. Catch up on Xbox and fillums, read a few books.
I'll also still be riding and climbing as per the warmer months, and possibly running a bit more too. And going snowboarding in December.
If I had the money I'd spend all winter making LEGO though.

I tend to do more DIY in the winter e.g. last night I was working on the new shoe rack / tidy thing for the hallway. Almost complete:

Started going to the gym this year, as it's still novel it's fun....
Come January it won't be, so I'll be in the front room trying to play the guitar or catching up on the books I've bought over the past year.
Now we've got a spare telly I'll get the PS2 set up in the front room and play Colin MacRae Rally until the clocks go forward!!
last night I was working on the new shoe rack
What you need there is fewer shoes.
Turbo Training - its dull.
What have you done with the real TSY?!
LOL! Worn him out! 2-3 hours a day just seems enough DirtyG... especially when the legs are only just working.
fewer shoes.
or less tennis balls.
Jim_Kirk is that a tyranid? nice paint job
as for the op's question. i try to play the guitar, but at present a certain game (skyrim) is swallowing up my life
www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSL-r9AIEEU warning this game WILL swallow your life
If it's too cold to go out, or I'm too tired, then a night in with a DVD, bottle of something alcoholic and some knitting is pretty cool.
I make ace little knitted teddy bears and earn a few quid on ebay selling them along with the usual hats/gloves/scarf type stuff.
Pictures Lizzz? Of the bears naturally.
Nice one Lizzz!
I am thinking of diversifying into childrens' toys myself actually. Don't think i'm going to make the Xmas market though.
My GF has more shoes than I've had hot dinners, hence the need for a rather large rack....
