    It gurus – help needed

PC warned me that automatic upgrades would commence on laptop and to save work. I did that. Upgrades then started about an hour ago. Computer has frozen ever since with “Restarting” message plus wirring circle. Totally locked now.

    Any ideas?

If it’s been a genuine hour with no change, hard reset. Hold the power button down until it goes off then power up and hope for the best.

    It’ll be reet.*

    *Probably

*Also, it wouldn’t hurt to wait another hour if you’ve the time.

Had this issue on a couple of work PC’s, found a fix online that worked for us and it was to basically unplug any thing from the USB outlets that weren’t needed…in our case it was the wireless mouse/keyboard dongle.
I was stuck at 75% for 3 hrs till I found that fix!

There are fixes for Windows Update but I don’t think they’re of use to you unless you’ve got control. IMO it’s time to boot off the recovery disk or USB drive and head for System Restore.
