Is this a case of read the advice and get cracking with it?
Save documents and do a fresh install. I understand the upgrade will always go 32bit to 32bit. Preliminary checks say CPU and chipset is fine for 64bit.
Hoping that PC will now use and see all 8gb fo RAM.

It’s straight-forward in that it’s a wipe and rebuild. Back up anything you don’t want to lose.

    8Gb and 32-bit? Wally indeed. (-:

It’s a definite wipe and install from scratch. Save all documents and/or stick them in OneDrive so they’ll appear again on reinstall. Metro style ‘apps’ and settings will stay in your MS account, but installed programs will need to be reinstalled.
