I use my M980 as double/bash (24/32) and require new middle and inner rings. Can I use SLX or XT ones instead of XTR?

    If so which particular ones?

as long as the BCD and number of arms (four probably, eh?)is the same for each new and old ring.
to learn about BCD, no better source than the late sheldon brown:

No XTR has a pretty unique BCD – 88cm I think compared to XT and SLX’s 104cm

Edit the trail and race chain sets are different, above was for the race, think 980 is the trail so yes standard 104bcd I think
