… I eat trout that should supposedly have been eaten yesterday? Haven’t open the packaging to smell it yet.

does it have traces of horse or DSM in it? If it does, you ought to be fine.

If it smells bad, don’t eat it. If it smells fine, cook it and eat it with a nicely chilled Pouilly Fuisse

Cook it first would be my advice.

    Do so.

There’s no magic disease that suddenly appears after the sell by date. You kill (most) bacteria by cooking it, but if they’ve bacterialogically pooed all in your food, you can’t get rid of the taste.

Eh, will the horse additives magically improve its longevity?

Smell test is your friend: smells good – fit to eat.

Let me tell you, that same test works well with non-food items 😉

Are the eyes cloudy? If so ditch it and go to the chippy.

if your tummy starts making alarming noises 4-6 hours after you eat it, it was probably no good. If you then spew or poo your ring out, it was definitely no good.

Sure fire test. hope that helps

was this a wind up? I though fresh fish specifically didn’t smell of fish (or horse or anythign else).

Must admit I’ve been known to live on the edge by eating food that’s past its sell-by date.

As above if it smells wrong it probably is
