  • Wide tyres on Specialized Sirrus Sport 2011?

Anyone got any experience of fitting wider tyres on a 2011 Specialized Sirrus Sport? Was thinking of 700 x 38c knobblies for some gentle xc action/bikepacking.
Been meaning to get around to changing them for a while and might push me into selling my old Giant hardtail.
Any recommendations for some cheap replacement tyres?

Not really what it’s intended use is! You probably could put a CX tyre in there but I wouldn’t want to use it for anything more than a canal tow path

I don’t see there’s much difference between a hybrid and a CX bike (except the flat bars) or fully rigid mtbs.

Surely it comes down to tyre width and marketing hype? All my mtbs in the 90s were fairly similar to a hybrid but with 26″ wheels.

My theory is that if I spend £30 on a pair of tyres and it doesn’t work, there’s nothing really lost (except £30!). I’m only talking about forestry tracks really – not full on riding – that’s what my full suss is for.
