What options are there for a 35mm equivalent 16-18mm lens for a DSLR?
Assuming that I’m not being body manufacturer specific.

Is that from personal experience Simon?
I’m not that fussed about zoom – just looking for options for architectural photography (and I can’t justify a rising front lens), then it’ll come down to what body. I’ve been a Pentax type since ’81 so will have to have a look.

Tokina 12-24mm AT-X 124 PRO DX II gets good reviews.

I’ve got their 10-17 fisheye and it’s great. Solid quality.

The sigma 10-20mm I had for a while didn’t focus properly. Not uncommon it seems.

not so necessary now that you can easily correct verticals in post processing

Sigma 10-20mm is an ace lens, just don’t get sand in it like me.

Just bought a K20D – will think about the Sigma 10-20 lens (tried it in the shop and it seemed pretty good – quite a beast though).
Apparently they’re going up by £200 in the next month 😯

The Tokina 12-24 is supposedly better than the Sigma 10-20mm. Ken Rockwell has done a review of several wide angle lens’ although his ‘opinions’ do need to be taken with a pinch of salt.
The pics in his review do seem to supprt what he says though.

If you’re using a Canon… then go for the 10-22mm EF-S, it’s an absolutely cracking lens. Bit more expensive than the Sigma, but it is a Canon… here’s some of my favourite MTB pics with it 🙂

Of course, it’s not just the lense… the photgrapher helps 😉 modest I know 8)
