    It seems like they’re lagging behind a bit there, and in other areas obviously but that’s not up for discussion on this thread.

    I find the website ok on my phone. Entry is mostly pre-completed fields and you can scan your card details.

    Q. What benefit does an app bring that a well designed mobile website does not?

    I spend quite a bit of my day answering that question for clients, the main reasons to build an app rather than just making a website work properly on mobile are:

    – works offline with no connectivity
    – utilises hardware on the phone not readily available in the browser
    – an app should perform faster for any significant computational stuff
    – You can integrate your app better with other apps or services on the phone (or push notifications) than just using a browser.

    For a booking or results function you will need connectivity. It isn’t computationally complex. Doesn’t use any special hardware/sensors. So unless it’s about integration I’m not seeing it…

    if the problem is their website is crap in mobile it’s much simpler to fix that building and maintaining mobile apps.
