  • Why do some BMX's run with the drive on the left side?

Just seen some local youths out on their BMXs – nice looking machines obviously not halfords specials. Both had very small chainrings and rear sprockets (for best clearance?)What appeared unusual was that they were both set up to run the chain on the left side.

    Why is this?

If they grind on the right then having the drivetrain on the left keeps out of the way of damage

Perhaps their bikes were assembled Halfords.

All European bikes are left-hand drive…

Maybe because they can. I've often been tempted to fit King headsets upside down just because it will still work.
