    It’s a nightmare.
So hard to get a decent restaurant reservation in resort with all the Christmas skiers.

PS. I’m aware that some people have different reasons for hating it.

I don’t hate it but I have a strong dislike of it.
Been delivering Christmas stuff since the first week in September, not allowed any holidays from the first week in December until the second week in January, traffic chaos & forced to do extra hours on shift.
Oh yes,we also get our rotas changed & usually have to work a Saturday or Sunday instead of Mon-Fri.
    Can’t say as I’m a fan…

Have a total lack of interest in Xmas, gets in the way of my time off.
I just avoid it as much as I can.

Love it. Be a bit weird this year without Dad, he was big in to Christmas too. Will have to drink his ration of single malt this year as we don’t want a glut in January.

I like Christmas and I’m generally pretty miserable. Nice food, go nice places, plenty time on bike and see family and friends.

Our family went to a £20 max secret Santa a few years ago and it’s brilliant.

Crassmass, crassmass, crassmass…It always cracks me up hearing peeps say the usual guff; loads of food/holiday/family and the nippers love it. You can do that when ever you like you know, you don’t have to wait until Jesus gives ye the nod. Sheep need to be herded I spose 😆

Lovely time of year though 😉

I much prefer Easter, spring weather, end of winter, Mother Nature doing her thing, and loads of choc. The thing about Xmas is all the faff and all the expectation. Everyone so wound up about making sure they have a good time, always thinking someone is having a better day. Plus there’s the traditions which usually dictate how the day is spent, usually inside. Easter – low profile, lower expectations, lower cost, higher enjoyment. Spend the day how you want, on a bike if you can. Give me Easter over Xmas any day

Probably not when you think about the logistics of holding a big family do particularly with families spread all over the place at a convenient time for all and nevermind the shared experience and traditions that make the occasion.

What? You can only get together with a big group of friends and family once a year… 😆 It just shows that this follow/control thing works doesn’t it.

Break the tradition of guff and start a new family tradition of your own, start slowly and have a gathering on the 28th.. You’ll all be fine I promise ye.

Currently hate it, I wish I could enjoy it like the wife and kids.
Working in retail so I have to work my ass off, get no thanks from my bosses or customers, go home, eat sleep repeat. Christmas day just becomes a day off before heading back in on the 26th at the crack of dawn for the sale. I am like the Grinch come the 25th.

Looking forward to the day I retire and can enjoy it again as, to me, it should be a time for family not consumerism.

I love Christmas especially with my immediate family.

    I dislike:

The shops and marketing types trying to get you to spend spend spend.

    Family disagreements (extended)

    The weather

To be fair, I’d be happier going out on a bike ride

    Doesn’t everybody love mince pies?

    No.
I’ve been largely indifferent to Christmas for years, with increasingly elderly parents who weren’t that bothered about it, I couldn’t even be arsed to turn on the lights in the windows.
That said, I don’t mind the present thing, I have a small circle of friends who I like finding interesting things for, and they do the same.
This year may be a bit different, both my parents are now gone, but I’ve got a girlfriend after years of being single, and I get on well with her mum, (I first got to know them over twenty years ago, when they owned a local pub I used to go to), and she has two grown daughters, so quite a change.

To be honest, after the blood sacrifices and fire festival on the Solstice Christmas just seems, well, a bit of a dull and a let down.

Well up for a spot of christmas. Comes at just the right time. Happy to cook, like seeing family, do my xmas shopping online so never have to go near a shop except local butchers, aldi and waitrose. Never watch tv so never seen a john lewis advert
Like singing carols and decorating oranges with the kids, love panto and always get a long walk on boxing day and a long ride day after
Its pretty easy to avoid the bollox and enjoy the rest I reckon.

Not quite, a lot of us went to Majorca for a mates wedding but quite a few couldn’t make it for one reason or another, the vast majority of us make our way back to the motherland over Christmas, as it is when most people get time off so, we’ll all meet up in the rose on Xmas Eve, as we have for the last twenty years.. it’s our little tradition

Just another working day. I haven’t had a xmas dinner for 30 years, we don’t celebrate it at all

Its really not even another working day – its one of the toughest of the year as I have to make it good for those under my care including last year dressing up in an effing Santa suit.

Its on the wrong ruddy day anyway. Christ was born in spring, Saturnalia is the 21st.

I love it, fave day of the year. Dont leave the house except for logs from the shed, family round to see the bambino, get to spend pretty much the whole day cooking and quaffing and a cuddle on the sofa at night.

    Bliss.

General way of things for us is, tree up xmas eve with a bottle of baileys and xmas songs, hopefully snow and a relaxing 25th, tree out in the garden before new year.

Got the thick end of my family descending on us this year. I suggested that we wouldn’t mind if the kids didn’t want to come, probably wanting to see their friends etc but they never bit. On the plus side they rented a cottage as the BIL is allergic to cats and got one about forty miles away.

I love xmas, but i’m not sure its a time for family

Nothing against Christmas in itself but the 3 month advertising blitz just ruines it for me.

Without going into the details,I cannot avoid this blitz and it gets me down to be honest.

Quite a relief when it’s over and I dare to start thinking of Spring.

Spring IS the best time of the year as far as I’m concerned. 🙂

Dislike it generally, something bad always happens, last year my mum died so not really ever going to celebrate it again as it’ll always be that anniversary

Christmas Day is a great day for riding so I always go on a nice long ride in the morning.

Other than that it bores me in a Groundhog day sort of way. Maybe if the build up only happened a few days before it could be better.

Used to like Christmas, but increasingly less-so as I get older. I find that the premature, tawdry build-up definitely cheapens the whole thing, however much I try to ignore it. One of the most frustrating aspects is watching people I know, who have very little money, getting sucked in, and taking on unnecessary debt and stress. My sister in law seems to develop a thousand-yard stare from about September.

I try to be away, which I’ve managed for the last 17 years

I ignore it as best I can as it brings up memories of over indulgent Christmases when I was a kid

Absolutely no need to relive those again

Bit of both. I feel that even the mention of the word before December should be comparable with supporting Trump. All telly ads should be banned until at best a week before, maybe 24 hours. All sales should be on 2nd of Jan for 24 hours max.
I know, lets go back about 40 years. Perfect for me.
Its the commercialism I loath and the fuss.
