Just made my slightly leaky seals into 'yep they're shot' seals, just looked up earliest date to send them off and it's too close to a trip i have planned on the 12th.

So does anyone know anyone/shop in South Hampshire, that'll be able to replace the seals on a set of fox 32 talas 2007 forks this week, without costing the earth?

I would have a crack myself but i need some special tool for the talas leg.

just had a look and the earliest service date is the 8th, which including dodgy postal services cuts it a bit fine for the 12th, otherwise i'd be straight there.

Just do the seal change yourself and leave the talas side alone. None of it is reckles user serviceable anyway. Just change the seals, clean the legs, lowers and damping assembly. It shouldn't take more than 2 hours max.

service video suggests i need a tool to remove air from the talas side, both sides are leaking with the non talas being the worst.

Aah, air leaking from talas side will require a strip down of the talas assembly.
Incidentally, no air springing in the damping side.
Seal kit isn't going to help with the talas. You may need a specialist to look at it, the talas is quite complicated to strip and rebuild.

Try Hargroves. They've got branches in Southampton, Fareham, Chichester etc. and in my experience the mechanics are good. Give em call I reckon.

Hargroves send them to mojo- thereby incurring a 1 – 2 week downtime.

Any other suggestions?

I was just think about replacing the seals on my old Fox Floats RL 100mm as oil is coming out and was wondering about doing it my self, is it a hard job? Anyone done it or know of an online "How To"? I think they are about 5 years old.

Is it just oil leaking out of the legs past the dust wiper seals? The only way to know if air is leaking our of the TALAS system is to have the special tool (or a football adaptor which does the job equally well) and check the pressure within.

To replace the dust wiper seals (the ones you can buy from mojo online) doesn't require touching the TALAS assembly. There's a very good instruction video on the mojo website for how to clean and lube the dust wipers as part of routine maintenance. replacing the seals is simply adding the process of prising the seals out and pushing/tapping in the new ones when the fork halves are seperated. I just used a screwdriver in both directions (i.e. getting out and putting back in).

The Talas assembly looks hideously complicated and is probably best left to a pro.

Thanks all, i have found a southampton shop (G.A) who will do the seal change for a reasonable price. Will be DiY next time after speaking with tftuned and watching the videos.

For anyone who's interested it was oil leaking- no air, so looks like just a wiper seal job.
