Specialized is probably one of the best, all things considered. Big range of bikes off and on road, quality engineering and reasonable prices (unlike Scott). If only their paintjobs didn't suck so much recently.

Giant are the biggest!

Merida are second – YES Merida, huge company, both are Taiwanese.

Specialized in terms of brand. Big in both the Mtb and Road world

What about cannondale? Make some really good road bikes. Like the rush and rize range. Not to mention the badboy bikes.

Probably Phoenix in terms of volume alone. Every bike in Africa that I have seen so far is a Phoenix.

And they are all rubbish. Mine doubly so.

Its really hard to find your bike sometimes as they all look the same.

Probably Giant. They make more bikes than anyone and they make better bikes than Specialized.

in terms of building bikes , no 1 in the world is giant , build alot of bikes for different brands including spesh and quite a few others ..

Giant make huge volumes and brilliant bikes, so I'd give it to them.

Specialized are the benchmark for me.

Specialized are the number one in terms of profile imo. I'd be willing to bet they are the quality brand that the most non-cyclists will have heard of.
