im really torn betwen these 2 watches. ive wanted an automatic on a rubber strap for a while and have finally come to these. ive tried both on and they fit lovley. does anyone on here own either of the 2 or have any input as to which is the better made or maybe even another brand that is similar. budget max £1200

I wear a really nice watch, the only jewelry I wear.. Both your choices are very nice but the crappy blurb written about the Oris would stop me from buying it, it’s complete meaningless Bol…x

I’ve got an Oris, it’s been faultless. Get whichever one you like the look of.

Might be a bit Marmite but take a look at VDB

Handmade and you will probable never see another one on someones elses wrist.
    They are pretty big too.

If you can stretch your budget another £150 or so, then I’d suggest one of these: http://www.pageandcooper.com/muhle-glashutte-sar-rescue-timer-1/?gclid=CJ-vw7XIj74CFerpwgodN1IAsA

Similar style, but I don’t think you’ll find a tougher watch. Titanium case, 4mm thick crystal, 1000m depth tested, rubber ‘bumper’ around the watch bezel to protect it, designed for the German Marine SAR crews.
Lovely looking watch, and I really want one!

Good call, not to be confused with your normal Seikos(nothing wrong with those I have one myself)This is proper high end quality and retain there values well.

I’m desperately trying to think of a way to find the money for a Mühle, without actually selling an organ! It’s the only watch I’ve seen other than my Seiko SPORK that I really covet. They use standard automatic movements, but take them apart and customise them in house. I love the simplicity of the face and hands, too.

Watch was my hobby before I turned to Mountain Biking.

Oris will be my choice of the options you gave.

But personally I will save up for Omega or JLC instead.

Is the ball a gtls model? Be aware that the tritium valves only stay bright for about 10 years before they fade quite quickly.

I’ve had one for 10 years and its not the greatest time keeper in the world but my friend has a more expensive Rolex and thats rubbish as well. Its robust and looks nice.

That seiko looks awesome! The Oris and ball look the kind of watch you’d regret spending that kind of money on after a while.
Re CountZeros suggestion: Ti is best avoided in a watch as it scratches much more easily than tough steel.

Sinn are worth looking at too. But the seiko gets my vote!

PS as surfer alluded to, most Autos aren’t great at keeping time. My Roly is strangely accurate tho’ so no complaints from me.
