Am intending to buy one of these things and reckon the appropriate xtn length I’ll need will be the 3.8m. However ….. as always, there are several brands and the prices vary considerably.
I reckon at that height it’ll need 13 rungs (again, the fewer the rungs, the cheaper these things can be) and I’m not bothered in the bottom stability bar, etc. I just want a telescopic ladder.

From the experience on STW, how much of a real / practical difference is there with grades of aluminium ?. I appreciate it will make a difference to weight, but they will not be for full-time professional use.

Brands looked at include – xtend / Youngman / Sealey.

Thoughts please folks ??

Sorry folks – an unashamed ‘bump’ on this before I finally buy.

Any views / experiences ?. Will it pay to go for the higher priced item ?. Anyone any regrets on a cheaper ladder they may have bought ?

I’ve got an Xtend one.. the 3.8m (bought from screwfix) which I use regularly at work.
It’s fine.. feels sturdy and has been reliable.
Need to keep them clean and inspect regularly but no issues.

Had it a while and it’s fine.
Have tried other brands in the past at work and they were also fine.
Not a lot of help really, but I’ve not used a bad one yet, so maybe they are just an easy thing to get right ?
