Ripped my Hans Dampf, and now looking for something that has a bit more grip on the roots – as I had two slide outs due to lack of grip yesterday.

Running a Magic Mary on the front which I love – but I’ve never found a Schwalbe tyre that I feel confident about on the rear.

So maybe a High Roller 2 or a DHR 2? What would be a good compliment to the MM?

DHR2’s very good. Not that anything really grips on roots but it doesn’t grip better than most. Specialized Butcher is great on the rear too, very similir to the dhr2 but the control’s not very tough (I get on fine with it, not everyone would)

I’ve just gone from a Hans Dampf on the rear to a WTB Trail Boss.

It’s less grippy on pretty much everything but faster. I found the HD pretty good on roots, as long as it wasn’t clogged with mud.

So I’d say DHR2 – I’ve found that to be an excellent rear tyre for mixed conditions.

    Ardent 2.4?

This though, learn to love the slide or work out how to hit the roots without it
