My pedal on a nearly new tiagra crank set came lose damaging the first two threads the pedal has gone back in nice and square but I am concerned it will just fall of again miles from home and maybe not re-thread again so was thinking to loctite it in for peace of mind would a standard or permanent thread lock be the way to go?

    any advice

The recoil kit is nearly the price of a new crankset so dont really want to go that route.

248 (?) the blue stuff is fine for parts that need to be removed

Blue 242 is what I use. Avoid the green and red stuff at all costs.

The blue one that looks like a pritt stick is good, very convenient- it’s a wee bit more expensive but the cost per use is trivial with either.

    best to start with 248.

If you do want to use stronger you will need a solvent or high temperature to remove the pedal. Also the stronger loctites are not cheap.

Yeah just get the blue chap stick style one. Halfords sell it.

I thought that 243 was the replacement for 242.
