I need to replace the internals of my Avid XO Front Brake, service kit is £32 and lever removal tool is £22 – so £54 total:(
I have therefore decided to change to a hope brake but which one? The Avid XO with a 180mm rotor was ok, I weigh 89kg and ride XC and will also want a matchmaker for my XO shifter, so tell me which brake I should get and why:
    Tech 3 x2
    Race Evo X2
    Race Evo E4

I went for Tech M4 as those where the ones I wanted, braded hoses to. Booo-ti-ful.

On a serious note my LBS (who know what they are doing) recommended 4 pot as cost not so different and more stopping power if you ever need it and if you switch to ride less xc you can keep the brakes.

Pick your levers and calipers and match them up:

Tech 3 levers – more adjustable, maybe better ergonomics, maybe more powerful
    Race levers – lighter, cleaner-looking

    X2 calipers – lightest
E4 calipers – more powerful 4-pot design but a little heavier

Any of the levers are compatible with Hope’s SRAM shifter adapter.

Hope tech levers, M4 front and X2 rear.

    180mm front rotor, 160mm rear.

For me, that covers pretty much everything except full on downhill racing, at a sensible weight.
