I empathise with the OP – a few years ago I was out with the wife and nipper on the family cycle trail in the Forest of Dean and saw a guy pootling along on a Whyte 46 which was flavour of the month at the time and wondered what the hell he was doing – I guess he might have only had one bike – a strange concept that never occured to me at the time!

If all I had was a £3k FS superbike I would be tempted to buy something cheaper (or more niche) for family trips and less demanding biking in general. Quite fancied the Orange Prestige which had a nice retro steel look but they seem to have been discontinued.
