Any one recommend some decent grips? Anybody used the new specialised sip grip ones? I’ve used ergon in the past but looking a bit tatty now…so do I just get the ergon ga1’s or something a bit different?

Just got some odi ruffian lock on ones, they’re amazing, nice and thin and grippy

I’m with rkearsey, quite a tacky feel to the Ruffian which for me makes them great and makes me think I am not going to lose my hold on them…If that’s even an issue 🙂 Anyhow, Ruffian’s are the way ahead!

Has anybody used the spesh sip grip ones? Will have a look at the others too, I do like ergon as they help abit with hand pump etc but they are a bit hard material for impacts etc

Don’t normally see so many calls for Ourys in these threads 🙂 +1 for Ourys here! The compound seems to differ depending on colour, white ones are crazy soft, black, quite a bit tougher.

+1 for Ruffians. Great feel and pretty hard wearing, plus they come in short sizes too, which is great for us twist shifters.

The comfiest grips in the world.
No, you don’t need lock ons.
    No, they don’t slip.

gusset tight bastard lock on grips on the xc bike, grippy, cheap, thin but comfy. They look similar to the specialized sip that you mention, but they are cheaper.

odi long necks (flangeless) on the dh bike, very grippy, very comfy, reduced arm pump. Brilliant grips.

Hmmmm interesting, I’ve had the lizard skin peaty ones before and didn’t like them and also race face evil ones, again didn’t like them….spesh always seem to have it spot on with products so will look at them…..also it appears the ergon ga1 I use at the mo has a new version, ga1 evo which has a softer compound so I’ll defo look at them to, as I rate them currently just a bit hard compound on landing etc, new softer compound could/should be just the trick

+1. Comfy and sticky. I have ODI’s on the other bike and these just wipe the floor with them.

if you need big then go ODI Rogue are the only grips I can use. Need to wear gloves with them though as they feel weird without.

Odi Xtreme are the only ones I’ll use. Can’t understand why anyone would use the sponge ones above…will be minging when wet and would be destroyed in crash. 😕

    Got my Renthals from Tweeks.

Had the none lock ons for a while but always slipped when they got really shitty and wet.

They really kick Odi ruffians out of number one spot.

Another oury user here. I use them so does my OH plus the best mate. Had em on about 3 years now and have moved from bike to bike and only now wearing in places. Reckon I’ll get another year of of them yet.

Ruffians for me. The choice of the pros is good enough for me too. And they last plenty too.

Are we talking the lock-on Oury grips, or just the standard ones?

Just standard Oury here don’t like lock ons at all… too thin feeling for me.

Loving all the variety 🙂 I like Rogues, fat, grippy and comfy. But using Renthal kevlars on a couple of bikes too.

do any of the odi rogues/ruffians and other of the above help with arm/hand pump?? i still get a bit now even using ergon GA1’s so im just wondering if i may as well just go back to normal grips

id prefer something with a bit of cushioning, a tad softer etc but defo lock on and not foam!

Exactly the same here. Very easy getting the standard ones on and off anyway after a few goes.

Got the sip ones on my commuter and love them. I wanted narrower grips and no retaining ring on the outside. Very comfortable and will be getting them on the main bike as well.

Have a look at Superstar’s Size zero.

Thin, soft, grippy and wide. Bloody ideal!

Oh and they cost 9 quid including the lock on collars.

I hated the spesh sip that I had on my computer, rubber was really thin, the raised part of waffle pattern pealed off, generally just rubbish.
