My mate wants to buy his 10 year old a new bike and fancies a full sus. He has his eye on a Kona Stinky 2-4. (Lucky kid!)
Anybody got opinions on this bike or any alternatives.

Surely overkill for a 10 year old? How often and what type of riding does the 10 year old do?
Whatee is bought wont last too long, 10 year old boys grow fast.

Save the money till he stops growing, unless the kid is competing at a high level FS is just a waste

All points I've put to him but that's what he wants.
The kid already has a Kona Hardtail. That's had serious use and abuse. He wants something that he can do more with. He reckons if he gets 3 years out of it he'll be more than happy.Posted 1 year ago # -
It depends whether he wants to focus on downhill riding, it sounds like he does, most 10 year olds would, in which case the kona stinky is perfect. You could probably shop around and find a cheaper entry level downhill bike but if he's got his heart set on a stinky what can you do. That's going to be a lot of car washing.
