    Hiya.

Mrs S wants a Dremel type thing for Christmas, for craft stuff, engraving and we’ll, just because.

Assume the bigger ones are more useful, especially with the Flexi adapter?

So, looking at the 4000 as it seems to get better reviews than the 4200.
4300 not available in the UK ATM.

This Platinum kit from Screwfix looks decent, seems to come with a decent selection of the genuine add one.

    Good choice?

All advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have a really basic Dremel copy with no fancy extras but even though mine is quite small I wouldn’t want to do delicate engraving with it so I reckon the flexi adapter would be a great thing to have. Other than that as long as it has the facility to change the cutting head quickly (it’s a proper faff with mine with a manual chuck and you change the cutting bits quite often) anything should be fine.

Someone else might have experience with some of the fancy extras though.

    Get a mains one

I had a li-ion one and it was useless whereas a cheaper mains one has been brilliant

I’ve gone right off Dremels after buying a 3000 due to a PSA here back in June/July. Its failed after 2 occasions of very light use, and turns out to be a very well-known fault.
