I got a cheapie Tevion one from Aldi. £40ish IIRC, works for me, but very rarely have it turned on now.

Personally I would not bother, after the first week the novelty wore off and it has not been turned on since, it just sits there as a 'black' picture

I brought an Advent 8inch from pcworld, a good place to start. Ignore the negative comments so far, it's for your parents and they will probably load it up with memories. My advent is ace, very good resolution, good internal memory, remote control, and takes sd cards. Model number A8WPDF09.

Ps, ours is on constantly when we are in as I download my digital camera photos directly onto the sd card I have added to the fram memory
