So i have a bike ride in a few weeks but i don’t know which bike to take… Road bike / MTB FS / Hybrid ?

the route is 140 mile over 2 days, lots of road but also some hard pack , fire road / canal path stuff

only visible to your freinds it says?

If you can get 28 tyres with a bit of protection on the road bike then I’d go for that based on your description alone

+1 to road bike with bigger tyres. I once did an off-road triathlon where most of the ride was canal path type stuff on a road bike with CX tyres and it worked fine. I’ve also ridden canal paths on 23mm tyres and that’s OK if the paths are decent.

I believe the “n+1” bike rule applies here, you need another bike
29er HT would be my suggestion…

80+% road – road bike anything more and i would personally be thinking hybrid if it was decent quality.

Borrow an audax or light tourer would be my first choice though.

I want something that rolls well but can stand up to some light off road

Did the link to the route work for everyone in the end ?

I’ve been using folding Travel Contacts for a while – I personally hated them. I found them harsh due to the very stiff kevlar band and reinforced side walls plus I got 2 punctures on the first 2 rides (from a supposedly very puncture proof tyre).

I decided I wanted more comfort – took them off and replaced with 2.25 Racing Ralph double defense which are just as fast rolling, mean I can have more fun off-road and soak up the bumps so less battered on poor roads.

I’m sticking with the Ralphs for a C2C this weekend.
