I tried one of the cheapo eBay ones – the range on it wasn’t very good which meant I struggled to connect a Tacx trainer to a laptop for using Trainer Road.

The Garmin one is a bit eyewateringly priced though, that Suunto stick might be just the ticket…

Suunto one is great, chinese cheapies work well too. Probably the same thing.

A lot of the chinese ones are USB1.0, have a look at the colour of the insert on the USB plug, most are white.

Means that they don’t have the same bandwidth as a ‘proper’ USB2.0 one.

I started off with a cheap chinese one, was OK for speed / cadence and HR. Sometimes dropped out on HR. Then got a smart trainer and it couldn’t cope.

Replaced it with a Suunto one and its rock solid now.

I have the douself one from Amazon too. No issues at all after 12 months

I’ve got one of the cheapo ebay one’s and it works perfectly with my garmin and zwift.

The Suunoto ones need any specific drivers etc downloading or just plug in and let windows do it and away you do ?

I just plugged mine in, worked without installing anything.
