Help needed to sort out a week away with mrs skip. Its our wedding aniversary in february and we're looking to stop in a nice little cottage by the sea. We'd like to go to Scotland but where do you go?
Doesn't need to be in a village but a pub nearby would be nice. I've been told i can take my bike too so near to some riding would be good too.
Have looked at Country Cottages on the web but would like to hear wheres nice to stay location wise.
Any ideas??
Go to the Outer Hebrides and watch the big surf roll in on beautiful deserted beaches. South Uist, North Uist, Isle of Harris, Lewis.
Then there is Orkney & Shetland.
Kippford is a nice wee village on thesea, and close to Dalbeattie, Mabie if you like trail centres.
East Lothian
anywhere on the west coast is so wet it'll ruin your holiday

I you want trails then your best bet would be somewhere along the Solway. If you are happy with more "natural" stuff and want to see the best that Scotland has to offer, then I'd head for the North West. Personally, I think Gairloch is great. Nice sea views, good walking and biking nearby, decent hotel and one of the pubs even has its own wee brewery.

Mrs skip prefers the sea to hills in terms of views.

It's likely to be milder weather too, and less of a drive. Visit Kirkcudbright, Gallowaty Forest, Rockcliffe (lovely walking between Kippford and Rockcliffe).

Achiltibuie or Applecross, I've been up there at all times of the year, if the weather is bad it rarely stays that way for long.
