Have friends who live in Saffron Waldren, quite a nice little town/big village

Just off the M11 from the south?

Tricky one as there’s not a lot around those parts. How long do you need to be there for? Burwash Manor is quite relaxing, but I’m not sure how long you could keep a small person busy for there. They do have sheep and stuff.

Edit: Forgot Duxford, but that might well be a day out thing!

Stansted Mountfitchet is quite pleasant and the castle can be fun

Duxford and Wimpole are both winners.

Otherwise Thetford isn’t too far (even if not on the bike, there’s still Go Ape, good cafés and plenty of running around in the woods. If you wonder too far you can also go and play on the military assault courses – just don’t get caught!)

My folks are in Trumpington, just before you get to Cambridge.
