I ride four bikes and three of them need gear cables replaced, inners and outers.

Where can I get good value rolled cable inners and outers, like you see in the shops. Buying sets just ins't good value.

Winter commuting wrecks cables and I know that I will need more during the next few months.

a box of 100 inner wires costs about £180ish. try SJS or Wiggle

Just ask for lengths of the stuff in your lbs- I.e. 12 metres of outer and 8 inners plus all the end ferrules etc… Can't remember the last time i bought a pack of gear cables, and I must only have bought one of two before I thought this is crap value!

Any bike shop worth it's salt can sell you outer by the metre, good quality stainless inners, and all the ferrules you'll ever need. If you're a serious home tinkerer they could probably get you workshop packs of each too (100m of outer, 100 inners, 250 ferrules etc).

MBR had 10 gear and 10 brake for a fiver a wee while ago on their site

I have a box of nearly 100 Clarks inners if you want them 95% full maybe more? – Never really used them just cluttering up the shed….

Probably could do you lengths of brake outer as well…..
