It not the physical size of the magnet but the strength of the magnetic field. Neodymium magnets are crazy strong.

Have you tried randomly wandering around a scrapyard? All kinds of wierd stuff in there, bound to be something with a big magnet in it.

slight sidetrack but does anyone know how they post those mega strong neodymium magnets?
i mean some of the ones i’ve seen have nearly half a tonne of pull, would it not just get stuck to the inside of the van?
is there some way of blocking their field?

My dad had a chunk of silly powerful magnet in his office when he worked in the college, stuck to a filing cabinet. People would wander in and go ‘ooh look, a big magnet’, go to pick it up, wrestle with it for a few minutes then give up 🙂
