    Hello

I’m doing some tuning (bodging) to my fork, which involves changing some washers to a shim stack. For the bodge, I’ll need a selection of washers, with a 10mm inner diameter, a selection of 12-18mm outer diameter, and 0.10mm thick. Does anyone know where I could buy this kinda thing? It seems too specialized for a regular diy store

    Thanks

    Hugh

Piston in forks has a stack of washers (shims) these are of varying size (diameter)and thickness by adjusting these your can change characteristics of the damping e.g less low speed but more high and mid speed.
Stacks can be utilised for both the compression and rebound circuits, however ever unit is different in how these are arranged.

Could write a pretty big article on this but too busy at the mo, hope that explains it basically.

Get a copy of “Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance” now.

Coke can and a pair of scissors should do the job.
