Personally, I thought they weren't too bad in the 10 days I was camping at Glenmore.

You've got to question the accuracy of that. The midges in Aberfeldy are much worse than last year

Glenmore was terrible last Friday night when pitching my tent but no bother at any other time over the weekend.

IIRC it was just a teeny bit windy last weekend so no surprise they didn't make an appearance. They will definitely be back for a couple of encores before the summer's completely done

Last time i was camped at Ullapool i tuned into Radio Ullapool FM and after the local news and weather they had a midge report…class!

    Kielder midges weren't that bad.

Try Skye on a damp August evening for proper insect-inflicted savagery.

Not a problem at all here in That London, although we do have a problem with Scrotes from the nearby
    Aberfeldy estate (Tenuous link).

    Sorry.

lol… Glen Orchy is also a feast site on a still evening, was in the tent down there past the bridge once and the high pitch drone outside was unreal…luckily i was self substained inside…food and beer inside…always take a 2 litre milk carton to save going out to the call of nature!

I counted one or two in the car park at Aonach Mor last night, but I'm sure they're gone now…

    Yup.

They certainly made their presence felt, but they were bearable.

There was millions never seen as many and can't see you'd get more. However I was lucky they didn't bite me at all really but I was layered it all sorts of repellent.
