My second born showed me the ‘treat’ she’s having for breakfast.

I glanced at the box, and commented…mmmm sugar puffs.

    – no daddy, they are Honey Monster Puffs.

Don’t talk shit you little fool. I said.

Then she showed me the box.

Honey bloody God me monster puffs isn’t it.

Curiously I had a sudden craving for some last week, so I went shopping.

Honey monster puffs indeed… they’re not fooling anyone.

Apparently they changed towards the end of last year because people think they are magically healthier because they don’t have “sugar” in the name any more.

I haven’t yet been able to determine if they still make your wee smell the same as the cereal like they used to. Investigations will continue.

Many years ago while living in France I brought back some Sugar Puffs from the UK and let a French mate try them. Having never tried British breakfast cereals before he was deeply impressed and asked me what they were called as he intended to buy some should he ever go to the UK. I convinced him that they were called ‘Sweetie Poofs’ and as he didn’t speak any English insisted he repeated it after me until he got the pronunciation correct, much to the amusement of a mutual English friend when he found out.
