The edges seem to be getting a little blurred…

On One Dirty Disco Gravel Bike

OK so its a crosser with flat bars, but surely this is also pretty much a 29’er race bike? Where’s the dividing line?

It’s a good looking hybrid with discs, but still….

Yes but people think that if somebody tells you it’s a new kind of bike then it is – see explanation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor’s_New_Clothes

I’d say when it’s running a road groupset and has road-ish geometry.

Categories for bikes are vey useful for beginners – it’s a big, complicated two wheeled world out there.

For the rest of us, apart for those in marketing, who cares what it’s called?

I’ve an old rigid MTB with slicks & panniers.
It’s an MTB when I swap the tyres, a commuter when I ride it to work and a tourer when I’m on me hols.

    S’all anarchy innit?

I just built up something very similar, using a Kaffenback frame.

50/34, 11-34 9sp out back, so a bigger gear range too. And it wasn’t £1k!

Gravel bike, you say? Just what I need to fill the obvious gap in my stable between “rocks bike” and “grass bike”.
