Walking through Madrid this morning, very pleased at the dramatic increase in the number of cyclists, when a couple came charging down the pavement on their bikes, bells a ringing, a good head of speed and a healthy disregard for pavement users. Strange language being spoken, Dutch I think they were.
I’m very happy at the level of respect you have to give cyclists in Holland, but it don’t work like that in Spain.
Don’t come here and ride like idiots, when in Rome, etc….

I ride like as if I’m in Scunthorpe.

Surely the Spanish are used to foreigners behaving like arseholes in Spain and take it all in their stride ?

They were probably grateful that the northern Europeans were just riding their bikes, and not vomiting, fighting, and pissing, on the pavement.

    Rome wasn’t built in Arbroath.

vomiting, fighting, and pissing, on the pavement.

I have seen Spains doing this in London. 😀

They obviously must also believe in the ‘when in Rome’ rule….

What did the Romans do when they came to Madrid? That must have confused the shit out of everybody?

Did the Romans ever come to Scunthorpe? I bet they did.

All roads however lead to Rome and so they were obviously riding in the mistaken belief that they had already arrived.
