    To be fair, 100:1 on was actually pretty good odds for that IMO. The rule he appears to have broken is only betting what you can afford to lose (personally I made a few hundred pounds betting on the last Olympics -where I thought the bookies had got the odds wrong, rather than necessarily on who I thought would win – was risking more than I would make in some cases, but could afford the loss).

    I used to work for one of the biggest bookies in the UK. These events are actually quite common and although I can't go into details there are other things that makes this pale in comparison. But yes, that punter will forever be thinking what they could have done with 4 grand that just went down the drain.
