  • Wheels – sell, rebuild or what?

OK, so I have two bikes – Ti456 and a recent addition, a Tripster.

I ‘need’ a ‘nice’ set of road wheels for the Tripster, something light I can leave shod with some 25/28 tyres and swap in and out with minimal adjustment.

I happen to have a rather nice 26″ wheelset my LBS built me some years back – DT240s hubs, DT Aerolight spokes, DT4.1d rims – it was a handbuilt version of some factory wheels at the time and as my friend could get enough spokes to use for himself as well (was a minmum order quantity) he did me a deal that made them doable.

However, they aren’t great tubeless (a pain to mount and seal, verging on impossible on some combos) and the Mavic CrossTrails on the 456 seem to suit it a bit better, being a little tougher and (I think) wider.

Should I sell them as is? Rims are scratched from metal tyre levers (did say they were tight) but the wheels are still good. Not sure if they are still worth much now.
Get them rebuilt for the Tripster? What rims? I’ll need an 11 speed freehub too.. seems a shame with those spokes..

    Ideas?
