Just found my rear wheel’s rim is splitting so new rim and new set of spokes needed for a rebuild. Trying to work out spoke lengths. for the DT calulator here http://www.dtswiss.com/SpokesCalc/Calculator.aspx
I need to know
PCD and flange distances, and also diameter of spoke hole (why?)
spokes will be sapim race or DT comp in silver, with brass nipples, 36 of them laced 3 cross.
Okay so does anybody know the required info for the hub? Or where to find it? or how to measure it accurately enough on a hub that is still laced into a wheel?
Cheers
now, gratuitous photo of the reason for the rebuild (one of several cracks)
I know the cause – spoke tension went out of whack and way too high after some desperate re-truing following a prang a couple of years ago….I’m amazed it has lasted for another 10k miles!
Great! thanks. I’m coming out at 258mm both sides. Although neither the dt nor the mavic calculator has the xm319 listed 😕 so I’ve used the xm 719…hope that is the same/similar ERD!
yes al, and yes, but it isn’t all that easy to measure the pcd accurately…put a rule acros and the axle is in the way. similarly awkward with flange spacing, especially as the hub is still laced into a wheel. Conan’s link was very helpfully just what I wanted.
al, you HAVE turned into elfin, and I claim my five pounds
Ah now thanks 1111, that is really rather easy. It still doesn’t have a xm319….I’m starting to wonder what that rim is that crc have….some OEM stuff perhaps?
