I only noticed when I was taking this photo, 45 miles in to Saturday’s ride.

    Any guesses? :- 😀

    Two chainring bolts missing.

Chain looks a little slack, but no tensioner visible either and vertical dropouts – magic ratio?

Fork dropouts look like they could be backwards?

Yup, fair, hoses are too long – guess that’s what you meant?

However, that’s not the most alarming aspect of the build in its current state!

    nothing in the hip flask?

Yeah, chainring bolts. 2 is literally just enough.

Learning more thought this, thanks! I’d not noticed the logos, I tend to line the logos up, but it must have slipped last time I was messing about – the bead loses air after 2 weeks not being ridden.

Hip flask is 2/3 full of Aberlour 10.

Chain is tensioned via Philcentric BB, which has discrete stops. Next one up is too tight. A new chain’s probably not a bad plan, it’s snapped and been repaired already.

I’ve folded a chainring over on a singlespeed and that’s with all four bolts in place.

    daffy – 😯

Happily, I don’t think I’m that powerful! The goldtec ring is pretty thick, too.

B.A.Nana – There defintely are! An inch of play in the headset and forks would be pretty hard to miss!

    What’s wrong with this picture?

Trees on horizon not vertical, maybe slightly over-exposed, questionable structural composition?

    😉

    Bez, some good points.

It’s a wide angle phone camera, so some of the trees will be off due to barrel distortion. Lens distortion has meant the back wheel looks a little elongated.

And I was rather restricted composition-wise, I wanted to hide my shadow in the heather. Given the issues, the mileage, the time of day, lack of lights and distance from home, my care over the composition got downgraded to “quick snap” levels.

All regrettable, could have been a better photo. Sorry. However, those are my excuses and I’m sticking to them. I might even come up with some more.

Your missus has kicked you out and dumped your belongings on the back of your bike and suggested you went on a long bike ride?

What the…?!?! Where has it gone? kayak! Why, I oughta….

    jason, it’s sixtypluster.

munrobiker – I walked it there on account of the missing top tube. Seriously, though, it is magic, I was saying the same thing earlier in the day.

nipper: bth hoses are untrimmed and too long, they’re zip tied together in a jones loop-alike formation. If you know it’s there, you can see the hose going in an S line from the lever to the loop, off again, far side of the front triangle and down.

I thought it was funny when he pulled the hip flask out of the cage, checked the time and with it being nearly 11.30, decided it was a perfectly good time to partake in some finest Scotch 🙂
