Ordered my first Thomson seat post today. Why am I more excited than if I ordered some other bike parts?

Welcome, matching it to the stem and seatpost collar is the next stage of your addiction.

Are you saying the cuffs should match the collar?

Make sure you order a new Cotic frame to go with it!

Is the seat clamp on back to front?

I liked mine, it was the pimpest part after my xtr rear mech.

    No 😀

Edit – sorry scrap that, the collar slot should be lined up with the frame slot unless the frame or post is carbon.

The Hustler has a forward facing slot.

Thomson gear is great. I am a big fan of their stems and posts too. Good choice!
Sensible weight and the best quality.

I stand corrected! Its offset though, the clamp?

Regardless, enough nit picking, tis a tidy looking bike.

    Enjoy!

Thomson need to do a quick release seatpost clamp, then I’ll be happy…

Because you’ve not yet discoverd the joys of thier seatposts being a bit undersized and slipping down in your frame.

Coming soon from thomson: bars, quick release seat clamps, dropper seatposts, and cranks. I can’t wait to give them even more money.

    +1

27.2 post in my DB Alpine never stayed put without over tightening the seat collar. it’d always slip or twist.

strangely this wasn’t a prob with my Sanderson

    I love thomson too

I avoid using a QR clamp with a thomson post though. Because the sides are thinner thanks to the ingenious oval hole, I found it could easily dent the sides. That was with a salsa clamp, which I think has a relatively tight spot as you close the lever, so perhaps another design would work ok

I’m not a saddle height fiddler though, it just leads to scratches on my lovely post!

I’ve just put a smear of carbon assembly paste on mine to stop it slipping. Considering a bolt up clamp to replace the qr as its on my XC ht and the saddle doesn’t get dropped
