If you undid the air cartridge retaining bolt at the bottom of your fork leg without removing all the air first?

I suspect you are asking this retrospectively?

Nothing? I don’t bother releasing air on my u turn revs to change lower oil. Really quick way to do it is to turn bike upside down, undo the damper leg bolt, undo air shaft retaining nut, gentle tap on both, remove, wind u turn back, tip out oil, shove new oil in, wind back out, install bolts. The air piston is sealed inside the fork stanchion (on all rockshox anyway… Fox may be different).
