In the Alsp a few years ago, one of our group ate a whole wheel of cheese to himself. Later, thetoilet contents was bright green, and swearing he could see a face in it, appropriately took photos with his phone. Then proceded to blutooth it to random people in restaraunts/ bars. nice.

Parents used to buy cheddar in blocks the size of a breeze block. I got really really sick of eating it for lunch every single day in my sandwiches.

Nice Cake PeterPoddy.
The tradition of keeping the top layer for the christening went unobserved, I'm assuming.

I like the idea of wedding cheese - mate had a full blown randonee fromage with stuff so interesting even a couple of the french guys backed off after a first taste.
My sister had a wedding cheese - a quite niche nothern farmhouse one.

Used to buy 4-5X 1kg blocks per week and worked with blocks of 20kg and huge vats with 30,000l milk. My favourite part being able to eat the freshly salted warm cheese, soft and moist.
